Hi everyone.

Just a quick update on July's Green Drinks. This month, the talk will be held in the basement of Messrs Maguire. In August, the event will again be held on the top floor of Messrs Maguire. For those of you who haven't heard yet, this month our guest speaker coming will be tackling an environmental topic that has resurfaced due to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico: that topic is oil. July’s Green Drink guest speaker, Richard O’Rourke is the director of ASPO in Ireland (Association for the Study of Peak Oil & Gas). ASPO is an international network of scientists and others work to determine the date and impact of the peak and decline of the world's production of oil and gas.

Richard O’Rourke started his career as a research and development engineer in the electronics industry in Taiwan and later moved on to Switzerland to undertake fuel cell research. In 2000 Richard founded Kinematik, a software company producing software for research and development management. He holds a Masters of Science in Engineering in Sustainable Energy from University College Cork and during his studies in 2007, he organized the 6th International ASPO Conference in Cork. Pretty impressive.

At Green Drinks, Richard will be discussing Peak Oil and its relevance for (social) entrepreneurs. The concept and implications of running out of oil are not as well understood as the concept of climate change by businesses and by the general public. So come along to hear more about the key risks for businesses as the world’s oil supplies dwindle, and how to turn this into an opportunity for social change.

After all of that information it hardly needs to be said that this is a night you don’t want to miss! Green Drinks will be held on the 6th July (first Tuesday of the month) in the basement of Messrs Maguire at 6pm. There will be FREE vegetarian food and as usual GREAT conversations to be had and friends to be made.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there,

-Leaf Living Green Drinks Team

Ps. Did you know that Messrs Maguire brew their own beer on site, making their pints the greenest in Dublin City?!
