It can also tell you how much money the electricity is costing you and an estimate of your personal contribution to climate change! For example, if you turn a set of lights on or off, you can see the impact this has to your energy use straight away. With this information you, your family, or business, can visually see the benefits of saving energy.
The data is stored daily in an easy to access CPU memory so you can actually see the effects of your changing energy habits. Comparing day-to-day usage gives you direct feedback of how daily changes of habit toward energy use can have an effect on costs and estimates the personal contribution to the climate change in terms of carbon emissions.
The efergy meter is an excellent educational device. It is easy to use, displays personal energy consumption and increases awareness of important issues related to electricity, energy and the environment.
Pack contents:
The efergy pack comprises three modest components. There’s a square, portable display monitor measuring only 85mm x 85mm, a sensor which clips effortlessly to a specific cable beneath the electricity meter and, finally, the transmitter which wirelessly passes on the information to the monitor.
Additional sensors are also available for purchase with the Efergy Smart Meter for 2 and 3 phase applications. Use 3 sensors in total for 3 phase measurements.

How do I use the efergy meter?
Take the display unit from room to room and keep an eye on the monitor when different appliances turn on and off, check the consumption against the manufacturers specification, it may differ slightly and older machines are almost certain to use more. There will come a time when the appliance is using far more than it should and replacement should be considered.
Will the efergy meter calculate my electricity bill?
The efergy meter is not designed to act as a replacement to your billing. The meters are accurate to approximately 10%. The designs of the meters are to make the user react by instantly seeing how much power they are using. The memory which helps keeps track of running costs, is designed as a guide for your costs.
Does the device need batteries?
Both the transmitter and receiver require 2 x AAA batteries. Batteries are not supplied with the efergy meter. We recommend using rechargeable batteries.
Do I need an electrician to install the efergy meter?
The sensors should easily clip directly on to the outside of your existing meter wiring. If you are in any doubt or concerned about the safety of your existing meter wiring, always consult an electrician before attempting to fit the efergy meter yourself.
Will the information be lost in the event of a power cut?
NO. The information will remain unless you reset the efergy meter.
Can I view data from months ago?
YES. The efergy meter will store up to the last 2 years information. It also stores last 7 days and last 4 weeks data so you can compare easily and in minutes your energy habits in the last days or weeks.
How sensitive is the efergy meter?
The efergy is sensitive enough to register electricity consumption of an energy saving bulb of 10W. Variations in mains voltages being supplied is the main factor in sensitivity of the meters.
What is the range of the display unit from the transmitter?
The wireless display has a range of 40-70m. While in open spaces the rage will be longer, tests show distances up to 4th floors between the transmitter and monitor to be fine.
Do I unplug it when I go on holiday?
You could do, but you may find it interesting to see the power you are using/wasting when the house is left unoccupied and theoretically when it should be using very little.
Can I use a different currency?
YES, both the EURO and DOLLAR version s of the meters are available.
What is contained in the box I receive?

Do I need more sensors?
If you have a three phase supply or economy 7 meter, you may need additional sensors. These can be simply plugged into the additional sockets at the base of the transmitter.
How much guarantee comes with the efergy meter?
Efergy limited warrants the efergy meter for the period of 1 year, from the date of delivery, to be free of defects in materials or workmanship.
I have just got a smart meter and am having problems with the LED backlight. Is it supposed to come on with key presses as sometimes it does and other times it does not? Is there any special button presses to put it on/off?
The monitor is programmed so the LED backlight comes on with a timer. The backlight works between the hours of 6pm and 6am.The idea was we wanted the backlight to work in darker environments.As this drains the power, restricting the times when the backlight lights comes on helps lower battery consumption.
I installed the Efergy meter but despite that you say to promote the use of rechargeable batteries you're our Efergy meter keeps blinking with the 2 low battery symbols for the unit and the transmitter.
Do I have to go to the shop and buy single use AAA batteries for your Efergy meter? Most rechargeable batteries work fine with the efergy meters. Our R&D shows good quality rechargeable batteries should last 2/3 weeks with the efergy meters, compared with 4/5 months with your standard good quality battery. Some lower quality rechargeable batteries have a lower operating voltage, and so this tells the monitor unit that the batteries need replacing.
